Or you’ve had your colours analysed but still find yourself standing in a shop thinking, “Wait, does this colour count as my season?!”
Shopping can get real confusing, real fast. Luckily for you, this stylist loves a shopping challenge!
I’m making it my mission to find out which colours, cuts and styles are actually worth looking for at your favourite retailers!
I’ll do the digging for you and show you what’s actually out there.
The goal? Less time wasted, fewer impulse buys, and more pieces you’ll actually love wearing.
Each month, we’ll explore a different retailer together. This month, we’re starting off with Ovillo at Truworths
TRUWORTHS' NEWEST IN-HOUSE BRAND
Ovillo is a new in-house fashion brand from Truworths that offers a quiet-luxury and Mediterranean-inspired aesthetic for modern dressing.
The Spanish brand name translates to “ball of yarn” – a nod to the premium fabrics and exquisite garment construction of this collection. Focusing on elevated basics and a “quiet-luxury” take on everyday wear, this collection is designed for both men and women, featuring unisex options, tailored separates, dresses, essentials, and statement prints.
I visited their Canal Walk branch and these are my findings.
FEATURED COLOUR SEASONS FOR SEPTEMBER
Spring has officially sprung and Ovillo’s collection celebrates accordingly throughout multiple pieces of their collection.
Bright and colourful dresses in warm colours, vibrant linen co-ords and fresh neutrals create a Spring dominant palette this month.
While the Winters are represented through black neutrals and cool knits, the Summers & Autumns take a bit of a back seat.
Overall, the options within this collection remain quite versatile.
SEAMS LEGIT?
As a stylist, I know quality is a rare commodity to find these days.
It was SO refreshing to see the thought and care that has gone into the fabrics, trims, finishes and garment construction of the Ovillo collection.
- No loose threads
- Neat stitching
- Quality fabrics in mostly natural fibers (cotton, linen, viscose, etc.)
- Metal trims/hardware as opposed to plastic
- All finishes felt intentional and of great quality
My Verdict? It Seams Legit.

What I'd Buy For Each Colour Season
DISCLAIMER: I am a Soft Summer - any other season's colours will make me look tired/washed out. I am taking one for the team in order to show you the style of the garment, haha! So judge the item, not the mannequin.
SPRING
Pink Watercolour Print Shift Dress – R1599.00
- Best for: Warm & Bright Spring
- Style Type: Loose fitting style with more volume around the hip area. Also has pockets!!!
- Styling Tip: If you prefer more definition around the waist, I’d add a belt over the dress in a warm neutral.
STYLING RECOMMENDATIONS
Keep it light, fresh & simple with warm neutrals!

Green Linen Shirt & Pull On Pants – R1399.00 + R1599.00
- Best for: Warm Spring & Warm Autumn
- Style Type: Super comfortable set that skims over the body. Not too loose that the shape is lost or too tight to relax in – just right!
- Styling Tip: Wear them as a set or separately. The shirt can be worn over a white tee or pair the pants with a soft knit for maximum coziness.
STYLING RECOMMENDATIONS
Add some detail/texture with Warm Spring neutrals or go a bit darker for Autumn!

- Style Type: Ultra soft, lightweight, slightly sheer blouse with soft balloon sleeves. Gently drapes over the body.
- Styling Tip: Be mindful of the shoulder detail if you have a broader shoulder line or bigger bust line as it might bring attention to the area.
STYLING RECOMMENDATIONS
Balance the detail on the upper body with detail on the lower. Think printed trousers, flowy skirt, statement shoes! Keep accessories minimal.

- Styling Tip: Be mindful of the length (it was a bit long for my shorter torso). A nice wedge heel would balance it out nicely!

The jumpsuit does most of the leg work here. Just add accessories!

Keep it simple! Winters look great in vibrant blacks & high gloss silvers, while Summers prefer blended cool tones.

Some lovely neutrals feature in this collection! Mostly with a warm/yellow undertone, perfect for Springs & Autumns. There are a few more black items for the Winters to indulge in, while the soft denim blue, cool taupe and watercolour prints will work beautifully for Summers.

- Excellent quality, the pricing matches the value of the item.
- Whilst the brand has some neutrals for each season, the collection features colours that are Spring dominant.
The team at Ovillo have created a collection of items that not only feel luxurious and intentional, but is backed up by quality. This combination proves the items to be investment worthy, lasting far beyond a single season.
